We are especially proud of our children's education programs. This school year we hosted over 2000 children from local schools.
Fall: Fire Safety - Our fall education program is directed at local 2nd graders. The program is about fire safety with the Town of Chapel Hill's 1914 Model T fire truck as the focal point. The program includes a visit from a uniformed Chapel Hill firefighter.
Spring: The Lost Colony - The spring education program addresses the North Carolina history component of the 4th grade curriculum. The children learn and perform a five-scene reenactment of Paul Green's symphonic drama, The Lost Colony.
In the winter of 2005, the Chapel Hill Museum Education Committee, co-Chaired by
Kamie Edwards and Jane Pickens, was awarded the North Carolina Governor's Award
for Outstanding Volunteer Service. The Chapel Hill Museum community, staff and Board of Trustees are very proud of this state-wide recognition of the Museum's successful education programs.
