Past Exhibits: Lights on the Hill

Electric lights are such an ordinary and necessary part of our lives that we hardly stop to think about them. This exhibit, which traces the history of lighting, reminds us that at one time we lit our homes and streets without benefit of electricity, and that when Thomas Edison gave us the light bulb, electricity was a startling, and even suspect, development that changed the way ordinary lives were lived.
