Brief History of a Troubled Time
and Those Who Tried to Make a Difference |
Just days after four young men from Greensboro's A & T University initiated their famous sit-in at the Woolworth lunch counter, African-American high school students from Chapel Hill and Carrboro began to picket and protest at their town's segregated restaurants. For the next three years, white and black residents alike found themselves forced to confront the question of whether, and how, segregation should end. Through photographs, text, newspaper articles, and handbills, the Chapel Hill Museum documents the story of this important and trying time in our community. |
